Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
